Ra: Supreme System Lord and Founder of the Old Order
Ra stood above the old Goa’uld order as Supreme System Lord and the ruler whose discovery of Earth transformed his species’ future. After taking a human host, he found a population physically preferable to the Unas and used the Stargate to transport humans across his domain as laborers, worshippers, soldiers, and future hosts. This episode examines how Ra’s occupation of ancient Earth created the model later copied by other Goa’uld: claim a divine identity, monopolize technology, move conquered peoples between worlds, and crush resistance through overwhelming spectacle. Even after Earth’s rebellion forced him to abandon the planet, Ra retained unmatched prestige among rival System Lords and continued ruling Abydos through fear and controlled ignorance. His destruction by the Earth expedition ended more than one occupation.
